Where Am I Educated?
I am currently reading Dave Ferguson's book The Big Idea. In it he recounts an amazing story from an Argentinian pastor. What hit me today, like a ton of bricks, was this statement...
"The average Christian is educated to at least three years beyond their level of obedience." - Juan Carlos Ortiz.
Take a moment to think about the things you know about God's Word. Then take a moment to reflect on all the things that you have knowledge about, yet do not practice.
Then take one more step..ask yourself:
With what I know to be true from God's Word, what is one step that I can put into practice today?
When we look back on how Jesus taught His early followers, we see the application of teaching took precedent over the mere knowledge of teaching.
Sometimes the best way to move forward is to apply the lessons of the past.
Left foot, right foot - what is that one step today?

Wow, that is a power-packed statement and soooo true. What is that one step today? Good question. I think one step today and it could apply to every day...decrease me, increase Him. Maybe then there would be more application of the written word and less emphasis on "our" ways and the ways of this "world."
We need to get over ourselves.
